NCBW-RMAC worked with the Pauley Heart Center to support heart health in the black community. Held at the VCU Health Hub on 25th St., Richmond, the event featured heart health educators who shared cardiovascular disease prevention tips, including how to eat healthy, exercise, and reduce high blood pressure.
Other participants included: The Richmond Ambulance Authority, Richmond Fire Department, The Mended Hearts, Inc., VCU Health Transplant and Stroke Teams, and VCU Health Community Engagement Teams. Over 100 residents from the Church Hill neighborhood participated. This type of programming is essential for residents in this area, where people live up to 20 years fewer than in areas of the city just a few miles away.
